Pat

Pat is Freckles' big brother and best friend. Pat is particularly fond of St. Patricks day and green eggs and ham (he ate all of them today!) Pat likes to bowl with his brother Freckles, jump up and down on his trampoline, play scrabble, watch sponge bob, and he loves popcorn. He may be green but he's certainly not a jealous pig. He's very sweet and quiet and occasionally plays the acoustic guitar.

Freckles

FRECKLES HAS FOUND A HOME!! YAY!! Freckles is going to stay with Plushoff.etsy.com. YAY! I'm sure he will absolutely LURVE It!

Thanks Plushoff!!

Freckles has really nothing to hide. He is not ashamed of his spots. Not one itty bitty bit. As a matter of fact, he wears his spots with pride. He even sports a "smiley face" on his rear. It wasn't intentional, and he knows that makes him extra special.

Some pigs thought it looked funny because he had spots all over, and we all know that some pigs do have spots, but no one in his family has ever been born with them. So some pigs made fun of him, and he was sad at first, but after talking with his "mom" (aka ME) we both decided that his spots were beautiful and radiant and made him stand out amongst all the other pigs as a very lovely pig. And he has so many wonderful qualities. For example, he loves to eat his spinach, he is a fantastic bowler, he loves vanilla ice cream and rootbeer, he cleans his room and makes his bed every morning. He is a good pig, and we love his spots. Period.

Calvin

Calvin is very shiney, that's why we called him Calvin (which means "Bald" in Latin).  Calvin too, came with Fillmore and Peanut from North Carolina.  He's the business man of the group.  Should we say, the little piggy who built his house out of Bricks.

UPDATE!  Calvin has been adopted by my friend Sharon!  He was so SO excited when I put him in the car he could barely contain himself.  But he did, and now he's home with Sharon!  For a while anyway, he's going to be another Christmas present!

Fillmore

Fillmore is a bit of a hippie.  His coloring is due to the help of a two year old which he totally supported.  He said that a kids creativity shouldn't be squelched and so we ended up with all kinds of colors.  Which turned out to be very cool.  Fillmore grew up in North Carolina and traveled far to Iowa.  He made his home here for a while but is ready to move on.  That said, Fillmore is really ready to settle down with a nice family.

UPDATE!  Fillmore was adopted by a nice family in Illinois!  He's a Christmas present, which makes him very happy.

A Pig is Born

My Simply Silly pigs were born right around the same time my son was. The idea came to me when I was pregnant with my son. I had a big kettle gourd hanging around that I hadn't done anything with for probably two years (we gourders are famous for buying a gourd that we like then letting it sit until it tells us what it wants to be.)

So one day in my mommy hysteria of preparation and making sure this wee child had everything he or she could ever possibly want &/or need, I saw that gourd and thought "a piggy bank!" And so the piggy bank bug got me. This is "Jeb," Brighton's piggy bank. He now has a cork in his nose (which took me another month to find one big enough) but still has no ears (which some days I'm sure he's thankful for amid the barking dog and the screaming child). He is the first, biggest pig of the first litter, and his belly is filling up fast with coins and bills, though it has a long time before he's filled up.

At any rate, a pig was born that day and I'm really glad! I was blessed to see the joy these pigs brought to people's faces when they'd see them and immediately smile. Time after time, people would point and say "look at those pigs!" with a smile on their face and I swear a twinkle in their eye. The patrons immediately called them each by their name, which tells me of the connection they felt to the piggies, and that makes me smile :)
